Facebook - My goals. My life. My hustle. My grind.jpg

When I moved to California, I took a chance on a musical theatre summer class and that is what sparked my life of everything theatre, film, business and politics. I was 25 years old.

I feel I have grown into a person I would have never been able to, had I stayed in Iowa. When I was in Iowa, I was depressed and not even knew what depression was and not connecting that it was because I wasn't living to my fullest potential. It took moving to various cities, in various states, to learn about myself, that I am a creator and need and artistic outlet to vocalize particular ideas.

Being in the Inter Club Council, as a board member and representative, while attending the community college, opened my eyes to the world of politics, being an ambassador, Robert's Rules of Order, community relations, budgeting, project and event proposals, researching and campaigning. Monthly, all the campus clubs would meet in one location and we would discuss everything that is taking place within individual clubs and how we could help each other, to be successful. We also collectively discussed funding requests and took part in the process of allocating funds. The organization was supervised by a faculty member.

Being involved in the theatre and film departments, I was able to accomplish quite a bit, in under three and a half years of attendance.
-Inter Club Council Representative for both Dramatic Society and Film Club
-Dramatic Society Co-President
-Helped to establish the first ever, Film Club Film Festival
-Film Festival Director for the second Film Festival
-Marketing Intern within the Drama Department
-Teachers' Assistant for Beginning Directing - Theatre
-Created and managed fundraising events that helped fund theatre students to participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. (KCACTF)

Post college, I was fortunate enough to gain experience within one of the longest running, public access stations, in the northern California. There I was an audio and visual, assistant technician and resident producer. My responsibilities were to help producers with their productions, in the three camera set up studios and to help with the rental of gear and returns. While at Berkeley Community Media, I learned a great deal amount, about television production and things to consider when managing a station. It was an experience, many people will not be able to know, due to the fact BCM has recently closed.

At this point of time, I have lost track of the many and various film and media productions I have produced, over the years. You can find a good chunk, online, but there are a few things out there that are lost for good. Such as, the Guinness World Record attempt. A few friends of mine, set out to break the record of producing a film from script to screen. Technically, we did break the record. The film focused on bullying, in high school, amongst all the peers. We shot it in a high school. It took us a total of eight days. At the time, the documented record was eleven days. The film was called, "Another Perspective." It featured many of the Bay's areas most recognized actors, today, when they were just starting out.

I am ready to finally start my career.

With the California Filmmakers Network, I hope to continue to learn, grow, connect, collaborate and share indie film experiences, all the while create cinematic universes that holds space in mind and heart.
